We feel like we've come a long way from our first fete in 2016 to commemorate 100 years since Home Hill was built, but we'll be planning and fine tunning further for next year.
Thank you to everyone who came along for the ongoing support.

On the 7th of January 2018, Home Hill hosted the Inaugural Joseph and Enid Lyons Address. The event was held in a marquee on the grounds of Home Hill and afternoon tea was served in the garden.
Mary Pridmore a Granddaughter of Joseph and Enid was MC for the Address which was opened by the Deputy Premier of Tasmanian and local MP for Braddon Mr Jeremy Rockliff, the Address was given buy Tim and Merridie Costello and Lyons Biographer Anne Henderson. Tim Costello Chief Advocate with World Vision Australia and is chair of the Community Council of Australia and spokesperson for the Alliance for Gambling Reform. Tim spoke about Joseph Lyons, his political affiliations, his personal convictions and his place in world politics in the 1930's. Merridie has been a secondary schoolteacher and Chaplain but is presently working as a carer and in Aged Care pastoral care. Merried spoke beautifully with about Dame Enid's legacy to the women of Australia not just in the form of Home Hill but also her role in parliament and beyond. Anne Henderson, author and Deputy Director of Sydney Institute thanked the Costello's for the speeches, and added some additional emphasis to the important place Home Hill and the Lyons couple occupy in both Tasmanian's history and Australia's. We say thank you the guest speakers, all those that attended the address and the volunteers that put in the work to make it happen. It was a huge relief for all the hard working volunteers at Home Hill, that the sun shone for our Garden Fete. We welcomed around one thousand people to the grounds and hosted some wonderful entertainers, local crafts people and food vendors. We really want to send our sincere Thanks out to all those people that came along and showed their support in so many different ways. It's also a good time to remember that we will be closed for a couple of months over winter, except for Special occasions like Devonport's Jazz in July.
On the weekend of the 22nd of April, Home Hill had the pleasure of hosting Scott Douglas and Amanda Brett's wedding. This lovely couple confirmed there commitment to each other in front of family and friends in the side garden, the ceremony was conducted by celebrant Anne Brown under the veranda.
Rain threated the celebrations but it held off while Scott & Amanda exchanged vows and had their photos taken around the property. Everyone at Home Hill wishes them and the cute kids Jack and Lucy, a long and happy life together. For tickets to our Valentine's Day Garden Soirée |
